Salma Hayek Nuance Lasting Wear Gel Eyeliner Review

Nuance Salma Hayek Lasting Wear Gel Eyeliner

Salma Hayek Nuance Lasting Wear Gel Eyeliner (.04 OZ / $9.99)

I love black eyeliner. And I love lining my waterline, but my eyes have a tendency towards sensitivity. Aside from being uncomfortable, bloodshot eyes aren’t exactly the look I aim for. Not only does the Nuance liner do the best job of tightlining my eyes I’ve seen, but it doesn’t irritate them, either. The best of both worlds. I figured it deserved to be spotlighted here.

It’s easy to sharpen due to the fact that the wooden part of the pencil is actually made from some kind of smooth, easy to cut through plastic. While I love the ease of automatic pencils, I generally prefer sharpenable ones because I feel I’m getting a lot more product for my money. However, sharpening them regularly can be a pain, especially if the wood insists on cracking and the product breaks off. While this is a gel liner, and therefore quite soft, having a smooth material substitute for the wood really cuts down on product loss during the sharpening process.

Being in my 20s, my skin is much less oily than it used to be. I actually couldn’t be happier about this. Not only do I not have to worry about powdering my face every few hours, but I’ve been able to expand my horizons makeup-wise. I don’t think a soft, ultra-blendable gel product like this one will work for everyone. In my teen years when my skin was more on the oily side, my eyeliner would sometimes melt right off me by the end of the day. But now that I’ve gotten slightly older and my sebaceous glands have calmed down, this is perfect. I also make an effort to steer clear of products that drag across my skin as I want to avoid unnecessary manipulation of the delicate skin around my eyes, so the gel formula is appealing for this reason.

From a purely aesthetic point of view, I enjoy how very black this liner is. You can see it in action in some of my recent looks here and here.
